The 30-year-old has closed off a successful year in neighbouring Mozambique by winning the national cup of Mozambique, which qualifies him to play African club football next year.
Mbele’s team HCB Songo got the better of CD Maxaquene with a 3-1 scoreline in the final played at the Estadio do Zimpeto.
“It has been a great year for me here because we won the cup and finished second in the league and I was playing regularly,” Mbele tells snl24.com/kickoff from his base in Cabora Bassa.
“Next year we are playing in Africa and what gives me so much pleasure is the fact that the club president has already indicated that he wants me to stay.
“The football has been fairly good though I have to make note of the fact that their style is physical and fast here. The challenge is that it is always hot and the games are mostly played in the afternoon.”
Mbele was recommended to Songo by retired defender Helder ‘Mano-Mano’ Muianga earlier this year following a stint playing with Palmeros in the ABC Motsepe League.
He last played in the PSL three years ago in the colours of AmaZulu and also had stints with Thanda Royal Zulu and Moroka Swallows.
