Wits made ground on Downs with a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates on Wednesday as the Brazilians lost 3-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic in a simultaneous fixture.
The Students next visit Tanzanian outfit Azam on Sunday looking to overturn a 3-0 deficit from their first round, first leg encounter in the CAF Confederation Cup.
"I can’t concern myself with the gap between Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns. We need to focus on our next game, which is against Azam FC," Hunt told his club's official website.
"We cannot get ahead of ourselves now because we have a thin squad at the moment. I have to use the squad wisely going forward."
Meanwhile, Hunt hopes his side, who have seven league matches left, can maintain their momentum after the FIFA international week (March 21-29).
"There is a big break, which everyone will be affected by. With the momentum that we have we would like to play a bit more, but that is obviously not going to happen.
"Be that as it may we just have to keep on going, it is not about what you do on the training ground but rather off it."
