Desabre returned to Wydad last month and it was leaked to the media that he'd been sacked after the 1-0 defeat to Difaâ Hassani of El Jadida and the poor display against Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, after an emergency meeting with president Said Naciri and the club's hierarchy, the 43-year-old has been retained for their CAF Champions League quarter-final tie against Etoile Du Sahel.

With a dramatic turn of events, the club also confirmed that Zuhair Al-Murtaji has been dropped to the reserve team after clashing with the club's supporters after their shock league defeat.

"The Wydad Sports Club decided to remove player Zuhair Al-Murtaji from the first team," the statement read, translated from Arabic.

"He will join the Al-Amal team until the end of the season, and check the appropriate disciplinary procedure for his actions from the last game."
