What caused Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly forward Kahraba bust-up revealed

Al Ahly forward Kahraba is unlikely to represent the Egyptian giants again after his fallout with head coach Pitso Mosimane this week.

On Wednesday evening the African champions announced that Kahraba was sanctioned with an R190 000 fine and banned from the first-team squad for one month with immediate effect.

It was claimed in Egyptian media the reason behind the decision was due to a fallout with Mosimane in training but a source close to the Red Devils camp has shed light on the recent incident that erupted on Sunday evening.

Following their last-minute comeback victory in the Egyptian Premier League against Tala El Gaish, the former Zamalek winger was seething by Mosimane's decision to offer him 15 minutes of game time.

"After the game, there was a confrontation when Pitso tried to shake hands with the players on the way to the dressing room and Kahraba was a little bit upset because he didn't start. Kahraba said 'go, go, go' because he's not very good with English so that means he didn't want to talk," the source told snl24.com/kickoff.

"Some of the guys said he said angry words in Arabic, not insults but like he showed his frustration and Pitso was very surprised by that because he thought it was very unprofessional."

With Kahraba notably having a history of unprofessionalism at his former clubs, it has not been an isolated incident of his tumultuous career.

And the Club of the Century, with its rich history and success that's been upheld by a strict code of conduct within the sporting institution, has decided that his behaviour towards the coach would not be tolerated.

"The next day there were consequences because Kahraba was still not going easy with Pitso and then Pitso decided that Kahraba has to be kept apart from the squad and he informed the players that he will not use him for the remainder of the season," the source added.

"Then he told [sporting director] Sayed [Abdelhafiz] that he's unhappy with Kahraba then Ahly announced that he'll be suspended from matches for one month but as far as everyone knows, this is the announced sanction but he's likely to be kept apart for the rest of the season and be sold.

"It's not his first incident of ill-discipline and Al Ahly board is upset with his lack of professionalism I think he will be sold in the off-season."

The 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and registered five assists in 38 games in all competitions since joining Ahly on a free transfer from Portuguese side Desportivo Aves in January 2020.
