Mazembe last tasted defeat at home in Africa's elite club competition against Al Hilal in October 2009 but they remain wary of the current Sundowns squad who are unbeaten in the 2020/21 campaign.
With the Brazilians leading Group C with six points from their opening two games, the 2015 Champions League winner says they are aiming to close the gap this afternoon.
"We know what we want, we know what we want to achieve, we can't complain too much that they say Sundowns are one of the favourites for the Champions League," the 29-year-old centre-back tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"We also want the Champions League, we didn't start well but Sundowns did, they are on top of our group, they have good coaches and quality players, all of them are professional but so are we."
The Zambia international denied suggestions they are intimidated by the 2019/20 treble winners as they have a fearsome reputation of their own in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
"It's not a case of us worried about their players, it's about what we do during the game. We are ready and we're going to do our best as we are at home," he said.
"But football is funny, teams can start well and on the day they don't perform - anyone can be beaten, that's football."
The three-time African champions kick-off against Masandawana at the Stade TP Mazembe this afternoon at 15h00.
