Sundowns are 2-0 down in their CAF Champions League quarter-final tie against Pitso Mosimane's charges, and will need to secure victory if they have any hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
The former Sundowns striker feels Mosimane's pre-match comments before the first leg were mind games.
"What people fail to understand is that Sundowns is a team that is doing very well at the moment, and Pitso has contributed massively to the Sundowns brand," Fetumba tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"But we don't have to forget who Sundowns is. Pitso is a very intelligent guy when it comes to football. Each and every word coming from Pitso's mouth, you must know that he has an objective. If you look at it carefully, he said before the first leg that he created a monster in Sundowns. By referring to Sundowns as a monster I believe he meant a giant when it comes to football. He means a giant of African football.
"But the reality here is, if you look at it carefully...yes Sundowns is a big team, Sundowns plays very good football. But Sundowns is only in the process of becoming a giant of African football. We are not there yet compared to the opponent Al Ahly. We must also not forget that Al Ahly is the current Champions League holder.
"If you check the history of Al Ahly, for me Al Ahly is the giant, monster of African football when it comes to club football. And who is the coach of Al Ahly today? It's Pitso Mosimane. It's what people call 'mind games'. Trying to make Sundowns lose their focus, trying to make Sundowns be over confident. And in the first leg that over-confidence cost Sundowns that game. You go to a game against a big team like Al Ahly, you need to make sure that you give them the respect that they deserve. You have to fight for each and every ball."
