Last week Amakhosi strikers Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro looked lively again when they were supplied crosses and in the process bagged three goals between them in the 4-0 win over Simba SC.
It was the same type of football that saw the Glamour Boys stay on top of the Premiership table for a long time last season under Ernst Middendorp.
But Muchichwa says the club should buy proper ball-players for their midfield so that the Chiefs way and culture is not lost.
"Yes, the current squad is struggling to play the Kaizer Chiefs way because there's no creativity," Muchichwa tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"There's no creativity in the middle. In the middle we need players with creativity. Plus again if you talking about Middendorp and Gavin Hunt, they are almost the same coaches because they believe in long-balls. So it depends on the way they are building the team.
"That is why you find these players being more suited to that type of football because Middendorp planted that to them. And it's continuing with Gavin Hunt as well. There's no creativity in the middle.
"I don't know which players the coach will bring next season, but if he says he's planning to bring in players like Sifiso Hlanti, then it means the direct football continues next season because that's the only type of football those players know.
"It will all depend on which type of players is he bringing in. Chiefs is a type of team whereby they need to play, not this thing of long-balls. Yah, if it works for them for now it's fine. It has worked for them but that is not the Chiefs we know. They are struggling in the middle, that's why now they resort to long-balls.
"Actually there's a mix at the moment, some are good at it, some are not good at it. But for me it's all about quality, there's no quality in the middle. We need more quality players who can make things happen, not this thing of guessing. Sometimes long-balls is a finder-finder football.
"So far the midfield is dead, I don't want to lie. They haven't replaced the quality that was there. It's a problem because the type of coach we are having now is going to be playing long-balls you see, but that's not Chiefs.
"We need players who are more creative, players who take responsibility when the chips are down. Gavin Hunt's type of play is not similar to Middendorp, but almost the same."
Chiefs' next assignment should be a formality in the return leg against Simba SC in the CAF Champions League this afternoon (15h00).
