Pitso Mosimane sidesteps preferred Kaizer Chiefs, Wydad CAF Champions League final

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane says it would be a mistake to think about Kaizer Chiefs or Wydad AC before their second leg CAF Champions League semi-final against Esperance.

Mosimane is on the verge of qualifying for his third Champions League final with Ahly holding an away goal advantage over the Tunisian champions in the two-legged semi-final.

Ahead of the return leg in Cairo, the South African tactician admits it would be unwise to state who he'd rather face before securing their place in the final of Africa's elite club competition.

"We'll cross the bridge when we come, you can't talk about the final. The biggest mistake is for the coach to talk about the final when they have a game here," he said in the pre-match press conference.

"There's a small advantage to us but we all know the history of Ahly and Taraji in Tunis and Cairo - the history speaks a lot but sometimes history doesn't say anything."

He added: "What is important to us is to try and protect our lead which is a small lead of 1-0 and how do you protect that lead is by scoring and making sure the opponent doesn't score.

"That is the only two solutions needed for tomorrow. In my opinion, it will be a very open game from the first minute because I will expect the opponent to try and score and we'll be playing home and have to score.

"It's going to be a good game for us because it will be open."

The Red Devils host the four-time African champions in Cairo at Al-Salam Stadium on Saturday evening (21h00).
