Zwane had a frustrating campaign with Sundowns last season as he spent most of the time on the sidelines and had the opportunity to leave during the transfer window. But the Chloorkop side decided to exercise their one-year option.
Zwane was linked with a move to Orlando Pirates but the deal didn't happen.
The former Golden Arrows man only made eight appearances in all competitions last term, and admits that he wants to play more.
"But the problem is I had an option in my contract with Sundowns, so it was up to them to decide whether they want to take it or let me go. So unfortunately, they decided that they will take the option.
"Their reason was that they don't have enough players registered in the Champions League and I'm registered. They will need me so I can help the team."
The 32-year-old has to compete with the likes of Thapelo Morena, Anele Ngcongca and Asavela Mbekile for a place at right-back, but says he will keep on fighting to get in the team.
"I want to play regularly just like any other player," he says.
"It was beyond my control but I'm still committed to the club. I need to honour my contract. I still need to continue working hard and hopefully this season will be much better than last season."
