Kaizer Chiefs sent warning by Wydad AC coach Faouzi Benzarti - CAF Champions League

The two-time Champions League-winning coach feels they were superior in the first leg and were unlucky to have lost the game 1-0 to Samir Nurkovic's striker in Casablanca.

And after affording his first eleven a rest with their 'B-team' beating Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane he feels they are in the perfect mental and physical state to overturn the tie and advance to the final.

"We've come to South Africa after a league game, after winning the game. Going back to Kaizer Chiefs, we were the better team on the field," Benzarti said in the pre-match press conference.

"We dominated in all statistics, corners, shots on goal, possession of the ball. Kaizer Chiefs only had realistically three chances. We've always known that we are a better team playing away.

"We are a team that is known for playing forward, so tomorrow's game we will play forward. We're going to try and dominate again, we are mentally and physically ready."

Benzarti suggested the Amakhosi win was a freak result and pointed to their record during the 2020/21 season thus far to state they are capable if they remain true to their attacking philosophy.

"Everyone is entitled to analyse the game the way they feel like, I feel the game last week was more positive than negative even though we lost," he said.

"The start of the action before Samir's goal was off-side that nobody spoke about, it was a clear off-side for me. Usually, in Morocco, we are the best attacking team and we've scored more goals than any other team.

"Even in the Champions League we score more than many other teams, but sometimes in football you miss the final touch to score and sometimes the luck plays a big part of it."

Chiefs and Wydad face off for a place in the final of Africa's elite club competition on Saturday afternoon at FNB Stadium (18h00).
