Kaizer Chiefs news: Arthur Zwane targets CAF Champions League triumph

Zwane who assumed the role as caretaker alongside Dillon Sheppard after Gavin Hunt was sacked helped Chiefs secure a top-eight finish with two wins from the final two games in the DStv Premiership campaign.

But with Amakhosi still in contention for the Champions League, as they face Wydad Atheltic Club in the semi-final, their 2020/21 campaign is far from over.

And Zwane admits it's something that could bring happiness to their passionate supporters who've voiced their displeasure with a peaceful protest to the club last month.

"Through thick and thin [the fans] have been there for us and we appreciate that as a team," Zwane told reporters.

"Hopefully next season things will change for the better and hopefully, we can put a smile on their faces by maybe taking the team to the final of the Champions League and also win it for the country. Anything is possible from now on."

The former Chiefs winger admits he understands the frustration and ensured supporters that it's their aim to restore the club to its former glory as a dominant side that's won 13 league titles in their illustrious history.

"More than anything else I just feel sorry for [the fans] because they've been here for many many years," Zwane admitted.

"As a player, I have been there when Chiefs were down and they never gave up on us and they're still here as supporters. We always try our best to put a smile on their faces.

"Unfortunately some things are not going our way but we appreciate everything and support they give us. We want to win the league, we want to dominate, very soon things will be back to normal for us."
