Gardner Seale advises Kaizer Chiefs to attack in Wydad Athletic Club semi-final first leg

Amakhosi will have interim coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Shepherd leading the team for their semi-final first-leg against Morrocan giants Wydad Casablanca at Stade Mohammed V Stadium on Saturday.

Former left-back Gardner Seale believes his Chiefs should go for the kill as this might be the last opportunity to reach the continental competition's final for some of their players.

"Even beyond [potentially lifting the trophy], it's a long way to where they are, so why not? They should just tell themselves that this is an opportunity that may not present itself next season or others to come," Seale tells snl24.com/kickoff.

The Naturena-based side finished eighth on the DStv Premiership table this season and this remains their only opportunity to end their six-year trophy drought.

"The good thing is, Chiefs go into this match with back-to-back wins and a new interim head coach Arthur Zwane. The approach in my opinion [should be] never reserve anything for the second-leg – attack as if you are 1-0 down."

It was Gavin Hunt who saw the Soweto giants to their first-ever Champions League semi-final, but Seale feels the former head coach's expertise will not be missed in this one.

"I don't think it will have so much of an impact on the players, you could see Arthur relates well with them, even if he was assistant to Gavin Hunt. Besides, they have to start showing some character, excuses have run out," he says.
