In the build-up to the semi-finals which Wydad face Chiefs and Ahly against Esperance, the decorated coach predicted that his former side would eliminate Pitso Mosimane's side.
He cited the Red Devils' indifferent displays towards reaching the last four but Taraji were convincingly beaten 4-0 while Amakhosi dumped the Botola Pro giants out with a 1-0 aggregate scoreline.
Asked whether he undermined the two squads and if he now concedes that he was tactically outsmarted after losing to the Soweto giants twice, the 71-year-old denied he made that prediction.
"I never said Esperance would go through to the final against Al Ahly, I'm Tunisian and I support Esperance, maybe I went with my heart but I never made such comments," Benzarti told the media.
"Football is a game to watch and enjoy, obviously you get defensive [tactics] and you get attacking [tactics], we attacked Kaizer Chiefs, but Chiefs defended very well.
"I always try to give my best to make football as enjoyable as possible. In football, it's always going to be the same, there's always going to be one winner and one loser.
"But congratulations to Chiefs for advancing to the final, I wish them good luck in the final."
