Ex-Orlando Pirates target Rainford Kalaba keen for TP Mazembe exit for PSL move

Kalaba came close to joining Orlando Pirates in 2013 when he signed a three-year contract with the Soweto giants but the high-profile move was called off after his paperwork was submitted after the PSL transfer deadline.

Since then he's added four Linafoot titles, CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup and Super Cup to his already glittering CV that holds the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations success with Zambia.

With a decade of success at Mazembe, the 34-year-old is seeking a new challenge while head coach Mihayo Kazembe looks towards the likes of 17-year-old prospect Isaac Tshibangu to build his new-look team around.

snl24.com/kickoff can reliably confirm that Kalaba has now opened the door for a potential move to South Africa, with sources close to the player confirming he feels he has unfinished business in the PSL.

With extensive experience and success on the continent as one of the few players that have won every African title on offer, Kalaba is keen to follow his compatriot Nathan Sinkala - who joined Stellenbosch from Mazembe in January 2020.

Kalaba has amassed 109 caps for the Chipolopolo, with 15 goals to his name since making his international debut in 2005.
