CAF Champions League wrap

Wydad Casablanca 4-1 Nouadhibou (6-1 agg.)

Wydad Casablanca cruised to the group phase of the CAF Champions League after thrashing Nouadhibou of Mauritania 4-1 in the second-leg tie on Sunday evening at Stade Mohamed V.

Mohamed Nahiri, Ismail Haddad, Aymane El Hassouni and Ayoub El Kaabi all scored in the first stanza for Wydad, while the visitors got a consolation goal in the 67th minute.

Horoya AC 2-0 JS Kabylie (2-2 agg.)

Ten-man JS Kabylie of Algeria advanced to group phase despite going down 2-0 to Horoya on Sunday evening at Stade du 28 Septembre.

Kabylie did not have a good start, as they were reduced to ten men five minutes before the break after Badreddine Souyad was sent off. Horoya then had the advantage in the second stanza, as Aristide Bance broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute before Heritier Makambo made it 2-0 two minutes before time, ultimately forcing the the game to a penalty shoot-out.

The Algerian side held their nerve in the shoot-out to win 5-3 , while Horoya fell down to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Etoile du Sahel 3-0 Asante Kotoko (3-2 agg.)

Ten-man Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia defied the odds after a first-leg loss, to beat Asante Kotoko of Ghana 3-0 on Sunday evening at Stade Mustapha Ben.

After a 2-0 loss in the first-leg, the Tunisian side were on the back foot to turn things around and they opened the scoring in the 24th minute thanks to Mortadha Ouanes, while Laaribi doubled the lead in the 67th minute.

The hosts were down to ten men with 11 minutes remaining after Saddam Aziza was sent off but Laaribi scored the third goal five minutes before time to seal a place in the group phase for Etoile.

Primeiro de Agosto 0-1 Green Eagles (2-2 agg.)

Primeiro de Agosto scrapped to the group stages of the of the CAF Champions League after going through on away goals' rule, despite a 1-0 loss against Green Eagles on Sunday evening at Estadio 11 de Novembro.

Tapson Kaseba broke the deadlock for Eagles a minute before the break but the goal was not enough, as Agosto went through on away goals' rule following a 2-1 first-leg victory.

Al Hilal Omburman 1-0 Enyimba (1-0 agg.)

Enyimba crashed out of the CAF Champions League after going down 1-0 to Al Hilal Omburman of Sudan on Sunday evening at Al-Hilal Stadium.

The game was on the edge after a goalless stalemate in the first leg but the Sudanese outfit broke the deadlock three minutes after the break to secure a spot in the group stages.
