Al Ahly suspend and fine Kahraba after Pitso Mosimane fallout

Al Ahly have fined star forward Kahraba and suspended him for one month after an alleged fallout with head coach Pitso Mosimane.

The controversial Egypt international has been slapped with an EGP 200 000 (R195 000) fine and will miss three crucial CAF Champions League games after his latest offence which has been deemed as serious misconduct by the Red Devils.

"The technical staff of Al Ahly decided to fine Kahraba two hundred thousand pounds and suspend him from participating in the upcoming months' fixtures for his lack of commitment," read the club's statement.

While the club refused to reveal further details on the incident, reports in Egypt claim Mosimane held a meeting with the club's director of football Sayed Abdel Hafeez to confirm the severe punishment.

The 26-year-old who joined Ahly on a free transfer in January 2020 after leaving Portuguese top-flight side Desportivo Aves has not been shy of controversy in the past.

Last year he was fined R30-million by FIFA after being found guilty of breaching his contract with Zamalek to join Aves in 2019 while he was banned for 10 games by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) after being involved in a brawl in the Cairo derby in the Egyptian Super Cup clash.

In September he was fined R950 000 after a training ground bust-up with captain Mohamed El Shenaway and at the recent FIFA Club World Cup Kahraba, he was banned alongside Hussein El Shahat after breaking Covid-19 safety precautions.

The Red Devils are currently in preparation for their crucial Champions League clash against Linafoot giants AS Vita Club on Saturday.
