Stuart Baxter ltest coach to join in club versus Bafana spat

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter invited Bafana Bafana's Hugo Broos to visit the club's Naturena training base instead of discussing players' in the media in the latest club versus country spat.

Baxter will lead his side in this Saturday's Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates in a highly-anticipated DStv Premiership encounter.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash, Baxter seemingly took a swipe at Broos' penchant for giving his opinion on Kaizer Chiefs players publicly to the media.

This comes in reaction to Broos' statement regarding Njabulo Ngcobo's Bafana selection to face Zimbabwe in a crucial World Cup qualifier next week. The Belgian had opined that he preferred Ngcobo as a defender over a makeshift midfielder where has been used periodically at Amakhosi.

"I think it's unfortunate that we need to discuss this publicly because Hugo could come to Naturena and make a club visit where we discuss what we think about our players," Baxter said.

"This is because we work in a different way than to the national team coach.

"I have been a national team coach, so I know we work in different ways.

"We see Njabulo Ngcobo every day compared to other players and we see the balance within our squad, we see where he can do a job.

"I will be willing to have a sit-down and have a discussion about that with the national team coach if he wanted to come to the village but I have never seen him, so I have to have that conversation with you.

"I have my own sports science department talking about what they do in the national camp but I don't discuss that openly with the media. I have my own opinions on what Bafana do but I respect the coach rather than a having conversation with you guys," Baxter added.

Baxter has since extended an open invitation to Broos for talks regarding Kaizer Chiefs players selected for the national team.

"Hugo is welcome to come to the village and we can discuss Ngcobo, Blom, Keagan and Bvuma and also discuss all of our candidates for Bafana and I will give my honest opinion.

"He is the man that picks the team, so if he thinks Ngcobo is a defender, he picks him as a defender."

Kick-off is at 15:30.
