Mphela hits out at France friendly

Head coach Didier Deschamps named a star-studded French squad including names such as Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema and Ngolo Kante.

Mphela who also spent a spell during his playing career in France with both Strasbourg and Reims says Bafana will find it difficult against the world champions.

"Beating France is highly impossible," Mphela tells KickOff.

Perhaps they will grab a result against Guinea.

"Asking Bafana Bafana to beat France is a tough task where I think there is no chance.

"Traveling to France is actually a waste of resources. How many international friendly games have we played and there is still no difference.

"The players are set to be out of the country for two weeks with costs such as allowances and travelling expenses.

"These funds should have gone to development programs. Banyana Banyana are doing well and the money could be used for women's football development in the country."

'Killer' as Mphela was affectionately known during his playing days remains the third-highest goal scorer for Bafana Bafana after Benni McCarthy and Shaun Bartlett.
