Hugo Broos World Cup qualifiers

Bafana lead Group G on 10 points – a point ahead of Ghana – making a win against the Limpopo neighbours on November 11 at FNB Stadium non-negotiable considering that The Black Stars are expected to also win earlier on in the day against Ethiopia.

The Black Stars will face Ethiopia earlier that same day further down the Soweto Highway at Orlando Stadium on a day that will have all four countries in Group G playing just under 10 kilometres apart.

Both Zimbabwe and Ethiopia are out of contention for qualification to the next round.

"For us, it is a tricky game," says Broos in reference to the game against The Warriors.

"Firstly, they are our neighbours so there is no doubt that it is always difficult, but I don't know what they are going to do. Is the coach [Norman Mapeza] going to put a team in preparation for the Afcon and try some new players or is he going back to the older players like before in preparing for the Afcon. So, this is also something that we have to see in the next week.

"Again, we have to focus on the fact that we have to win that game because we need to be in Ghana with one point ahead or maybe more.

"Let us hope that Ghana has the pressure to win against us there, so we have to win against Zimbabwe. We don't know if it will be a team from two months ago, but we need to win against Zimbabwe.

"We are better now than two months ago. I said it already that the game of two months ago was a lot of hesitating, I was new, and the players were new, so we didn't have two or three weeks to adapt to each other. So, for me it was about waiting to see what will happen on the field and I saw that mentally we were not ready but two or three days later I saw what I wanted to see and from that time we grew.

"Now against Zimbabwe again, who they will put for the game is not so important for us. We have to know what we can do, and we have to be confident, and I think that we have a great chance to win it," says Broos.

The Warriors will be minus the injured pair of Knowledge Musona and Teenage Hadebe while Marshall Munetsi remains a doubt.
