Broos: I'm a happy coach...

Hugo Broos has declared himself a 'happy coach' after Bafana Bafana's encounters against Tanzania and Mozambique.

After failing to find the net on Friday against Tanzania, the host came good this time around as Sinoxolo Kwayiba and substitute Ashley Cupido got the job done in the second half.

The coach singled out their first half performance and believes they should’ve been three goals up at the break, but was pleased in the way they moved with and without the ball.

“Today was a very good performance, we had so many chances. First half, we could easily be 3-0 for us. There was good ball circulation, much movement in the team. So yeah, I’m very happy with all the game, second half was also good,” Broos told SABC Sport.

“We did some corrections, Kwayiba was much better second half than the first half so yes I think we deserved the victory today,” he added.

On Kwayiba, the Belgian mentor believes he should’ve had a hat-trick but credited the way they pressed and looks back on the two games very happy.

“He could’ve scored three goals today, but ok the chances were there and the way they created the chances were very good. The way we pressed the opponent was also good so I think yes, I can just look back to the two games and as a happy coach,” Broos said.

With a lot of youngsters blooded in over the two encounters, Broos believes some have raised their hands and made his job difficult in selecting the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.

“Yes, I think it was the moment to do it. When you are young and have quality, there is no age. For me, when I see they have quality they get a chance and there were some players that took their chance with both hands in the two games.

“So, we will see now they make my job very difficult now when I have the choose in September the qualifiers for the World Cup but ok, they are young and talented so I’m very happy that I have such kind of players,” Broos explained.
