Soon after the disappointment of missing out on the U-20 World Cup, Mbekezeli Mbokazi is among the players named in the latest Bafana Bafana squad for crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana take on Lesotho in what is an 'away' game for them at Free State Stadium on 5 September, before hosting Nigeria at the same venue on 9 September as part of the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Ahead of these encounters, Broos had named an initial 48-man strong squad that has now been trimmed down to 23.
The Belgian will, however, be without the services of Themba Zwane, who suffered an injury setback in an MTN8 semi-final fixture against Bucs on 16 August. Khuliso Mudau also misses out due to a lack of game-time at club level.

South Africa currently top their group with four wins, a single win and one loss from six matches. They have just four more qualifiers left, with the last two to be played on 6 and 13 October.
"The biggest mistake we can make is underestimating Lesotho. They may not have the name of a big team, okay, but they are a very dangerous team. They played a draw in Algeria. They are dangerous," Broos warned.
Both qualifiers will kick off at 18:00.
