Bafana Bafana clinched top spot in Group A and progressed to the COSAFA Cup semi-finals following a goalless draw against Mauritius on Tuesday afternoon.
Bafana welcomed Vuyo Letlapa, Puso Dithejane and Mduduzi Shabalala in to starting line-up following the win over Zimbabwe on Saturday.
Boitumelo Radiopane almost made the opening in the fifth minute through a first-time shot wide of the area, but he had his effort firmly parried.
Mauritius showed promise too and came close to unlock the host midway in the opening spell from a header by skipper Lindsay Rose, but he went well over.
The host nation got a clear chance on the half-hour mark with a header from Aiden McCarthy following a free-kick, but he misdirected way off the mark, while fellow defender Ime Okon nodded wide of the near post from a corner-kick minutes later.
The bright spell for the home team continued past halftime with Dithejane close from a clever angle in the six-yard box, but he dragged wide of target.
Mauritius, though, didn’t sit back and pushed forward as Rose made runs from deep to join in the attack, but the host managed to clear their lines.
Bafana coach Vela Khumalo made a trio of changes in the final quarter, bringing on Victor Letsoalo, Sanele Barns as well as Masindi Nemtajela.
Mauritius nearly snatched the winner inside the latter stages through a first-time effort from substitute Cooper Legrand, but he slammed well wide with the goal in plain sight.
The chance continued either end with full-time on the horizon, as it finished goalless between the host and Islandic counterparts in the city of Roses.
