Bafana Bafana Warriors

Bafana Bafana's opponents for the penultimate 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifier have called up a schoolboy into their squad ahead of the two countries' meeting on Thursday at the FNB Stadium.

With this qualifier now a dead rubber contest for The Warriors, they have taken gone as far as including a teenage school kid in their squad which is already in Johannesburg.

Eighteen-year-old forward Bill Antonio is a student at Prince Edward High School in Harare who has been called up to replace Macauley Bonne.

Bonne – of Ipswich Town in England where he is on loan from Queens Park Rangers – turned down the call-up.

With the future in mind, Norman Mapeza has now decided to bring an experimental side for the game against their Limpopo neighbours.

Antonio is attached to local giants Dynamos where he has been shining through the game time that he has been getting since getting his break into the senior team.

Despite the absence of the bulk of players, Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat will lead The Warriors who will host Ethiopia in their last game on Sunday.

The other notable PSL players in the squad are Divine Lunga, Kuda Mahachi and Knox Mutizwa with Gerald Takwara and Ishmael Wadi called up from GladAfrica Championship clubs.

The Warriors are also preparing to play at the AFCON finals in Cameroon at the beginning of next year.
