Broos has guided Bafana to within one match of going into the play-off round of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup after taking over a team that had even failed to qualify for the AFCON finals.
When Broos took over Bafana were sinking in crisis and low in confidence under Molefi Ntseki and immediately freshened up the squad while relying on youth.
Five games into his reign, Broos has now won four and drawn one in Group G of the World Cup qualifiers and needs to avoid defeat in Cape Coast to seal qualification into the Play-Off round.
Broos has also indicated that while failing to reach the playoffs will be a disappointment, it would not be a disaster.
"I heard what Danny Jordaan said about this project so with where the coach has taken you so far you should be grateful," said Zimbabwe coach Norman Mapeza after Thursday's clash at FNB Stadium.
The Warriors of Zimbabwe have had an awful campaign and are bottom of the group without a win.
Having faced Ghana in back-to-back fixtures prior to meeting Bafana, the Warriors was also frank about the challenge awaiting Broos' team in Cape Coast on Sunday.
Bafana left for Ghana this morning and upon landing in Accra will proceed to Cape Coast where this decider is being played on Sunday evening.
"Going to Cape Coast will not be easy. Psychologically you should be ready, and I hope you find a training pitch there. It is not going to be easy in Cape Coast. I hope you will find a better place to train as it is terrible," says Mapeza.
