Ace Ncobo provides insight on FIFA delay

Legendary South African referee Ace Ncobo has detailed the perceived delay by FIFA in reviewing the lodged complaint by SAFA regarding the Bafana Bafana and Ghana saga.

The whole of Mzansi is waiting in anticipation for the world football body to reach its verdict on the World Cup Group G qualifier that took place recently in Ghana.

SAFA lodged an official complaint on the poor standard of officiating by Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye while alleging potential match manipulation.

"It's us who got ourselves into this trouble," Ncobo tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"As FIFA never said they would reveal the verdict on the 23rd, all FIFA said was, 'on the 20th, South Africa and Ghana must submit all their documents.

"Then on the 23rd, the investigation will be referred to the disciplinary committee.'

"So there was never a deadline given to say the investigation by the disciplinary committee will end on a specific date.

"Because it's a complicated process, then there was new information that came. So I think we should give FIFA space and time to do its investigation without pressure."

SAFA later confirmed that it had included allegations that a Ghana FA official is alleged to have travelled to Senegal prior to the Group G clash in what could provide proof of bribery.
