Steve Komphela feels Telkom Knockout success can benefit Bloemfontein Celtic

Celtic are in a financial crisis at the moment and players have, on many occasions, gone on strike over unpaid salaries and signing-on fees.

The club has been put up for sale, but selling it has proven to be a mission as the club is in serious debt that would have to be settled by whoever takes charge of the club.

Celtic begin their knockout campaign against giants Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday (18h00), hoping to cause an upset early on in the competition.

Winning it, especially after losing out in the final to Bidvest Wits last year, would give players the motivation they need.

"Even if we did not have these issues that we are going through, winning it is massive for anybody and it would only come in handy if we were to [win it]. And it would also ease some of the challenges we go through," Komphela said.

"But with all that said, we have to give it a go. We cannot concentrate on what is happening around us. We have a big job of honouring our fixtures, whether it's your cup competitions or in the league. We are professionals and we have to focus on our jobs."
