Manchester United have reportedly launched a €50million bid for an Argentina international, who is also said to be a target for rivals Arsenal.
The Red Devils have only made one signing so far, with the acquisition of left-back Tyrell Malacia from PSV Eindhoven.
Erik Ten Hag is now said to be raiding his former club Ajax Amsterdam, with reports claiming he wants to sign Argentina international Lisandro Martinez.
Reports claim the Red Devils have had one bid rejected by the Dutch champions, but Fabrizio Romano has reported that United have made an improve offer of €50million which is believed to be closer to Ajax's valuation.
A number of reports have claimed that Arsenal have also made official approaches to sign the 24-year-old, although it looks as if the Red Devils might pull it off after making an improved bid.

Former United and Ajax star defender Jaap Stam feels Martinez would be a good signing for Ten Hag.
"It is difficult to say whether Martinez is worth £43m, but those sorts of fees have become normal - especially in England," Stam said, as per the Sun.
"I have become a big fan of his. I find him a great lad, with a good temperament and a winning mentality. Players like that are a dream for managers to work with.
"In the past, defenders in England could never be tall enough. But these days, most clubs and managers want to play the ball out from the back.
"That doesn't mean that Lisandro won't have to do his share of defending. He can count on it.
"But he is very skillful, and creative with his passing. The more of these types of player Ten Hag has in his squad, the more his team can keep possession and the less they get hit on the counter-attack."
