Pitso Mosimane's false nine tactics with Al Ahly questioned by Ahmed Fawzi

The 2019/20 treble-winning coach opted to bench in-form striker Mohamed Sherif and latest signing Walter Bwalya in favour of veteran playmaker Walid Soliman.

However, the gamble backfired as they struggled to break down the defence of the Alexandria-based outfit on Sunday which drew the wrath of 43-year-old.

"Mosimane made mistakes that can only be described as inventing in football," Fawzi said, as per KingFut.

"Because you can't start the Al Ahly Bank match without any strikers, and keeping Walter Bwalya and Mohamed Sherif on the bench against a team that plays very defensively.

"He also made the mistake of starting Walid Soliman, who performs better coming off the bench. Soliman also played with a hamstring injury."

He added: "The players' roles were also strange and he played in three different ways during the match. And the presence of Afsha and Kahraba was questionable.

"There is also no justification for the change in positions, except that it was a series of wrong decisions made by the coach who kept Bwalya and Mohamed Sherif on the bench without reason, the team lost its attacking strength.

"It was a mistake not playing Mohamed Sherif from the start. Because the player performs well and his presence in the starting lineup becomes necessary. He gives the Reds' attack a lot of strength."
