Orlando Pirates news: Brilliant Khuzwayo in line for debut but faces competition, says Milutin Sredojevic

Khuzwayo joined Pirates on a free transfer from Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the season but has yet to make his debut for The Buccaneers.

This has been down to his recovery from a surgical procedure on his ankle, during which pins were removed from a previous injury he suffered while at Amakhosi.

However, he has since recovered and been declared fit for competition – something which he now faces before earning his first senior team appearance, says ‘Micho’.

“We really feel, as a technical team, privileged to have such a quality human being like Brilliant Khuzwayo, he’s with us,” said Sredojevic during a press conference on Thursday.

“Because he is a generator of positive energy in the team, and all of us have been beside him when he went for that operation [on his ankle].

“He has worked very hard to come back. He’s on the brink of being counted, practically being declared ready for competition, and it is purely down to competition of the four of our goalkeepers, on who will be first choice in the next match.

“We shall see, when we’re having our last polishing touches and decide [who starts in goal]. But we are happy to have him back and that he has put himself in line for competition with the rest of his colleagues.”

Pirates face Chippa United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening (20h15) as they look towards going all the way to end their four-year trophy drought.
