Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi says his side are practising extra caution against another premature MTN8 exit ahead of a semi-final clash against Golden Arrows.
Masandawana, who can be regarded as overwhelming favourites for every domestic title have somehow failed to lift the MTN8 trophy.
Speaking ahead of a return leg semi-final clash against Arrows, Mngqithi insists that his side are taking extra measures to prevent history from repeating itself.
"At his stage, we can't be arrogant," Mngqithi said.
"I don't think Arrows have performed badly since the beginning of the season, they've given it their best shot and have not lost too many matches.
"They've always been dangerous against us in cup matches so we have to give them the necessary respect and give them maximum respect.
"In the MTN8 we've kind of struggled to pull it through, I remember a few games where we bombed out against Platinum Stars where we were trying new combinations too early.
"There are some scenarios where we bombed out in the final against Bidvest Wits, then in a semi-final against Cape Town City where we were unfortunate with some decisions.
"So I would say in the MTN8 we've had different scenarios which made us not to lift the trophy.
"Even now we are very cautious of that because we did arrive previously in the finals against Wits, and semi-final against City, but we've struggled to lift the trophy.
"So we must tread very carefully and give it all the focus that is necessary."
