Kaizer Chiefs news: Khama Billiat set for late fitness test ahead of Black Leopards tie

Chiefs are set to host Black Leopards at the FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 15h30.

The Zimbabwean international returned from duty with The Warriors on Wednesday, after featuring in both their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against DR Congo.

The 28-year-old was spotted walking through the OR Tambo International Airport shortly prior to Bafana Bafana’s return, and showed no signs of any ailments.

However, a club statement on Thursday morning stated that Biliat was set for an assessment on a back injury, which Solinas further confirmed and added that he was uncertain if the striker could play on Sunday.

“We have a small problem with Khama, so tomorrow [Friday] we’ll make a decision with the doctor,” said Solinas during a press briefing at the PSL offices on Thursday.

“I think it’s not a serious problem, but I don’t know at the moment if Khama can play or not.”

The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has been a key figure for Amakhosi so far this season, having contributed five goals in all competitions.

Meanwhile, four other internationals returned unscathed following an initial assessment upon their returns to Naturena.

“I think ‘Itu’ [Khune] is okay; ‘Rama’ [Mphahlele] is okay; Godfrey Walusimbi is okay. Teenage [Hadebe] is okay,” added the Italian.
