Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane on replacing Gavin Hunt - PSL news

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane says he's been given the task to 'take the team forward' until the end of the season.

Zwane, 47, has been placed in charge alongside fellow assistant Dillion Sheppard following the sacking as Gavin Hunt as head coach last Friday.

Their first task is a must-win game against third-placed Golden Arrows who could still mathematically secure CAF Champions League football after an incredible domestic campaign under Mandla Nckazi.

And Zwane admits that it's a huge task that requires them to win at all costs as they are five points above the relegation play-off spot with two games remaining in the campaign.

"We're in a situation where we all know that is difficult for the team and we need to grind results," he said. "It's part of the game, you win some, you lose some.

"Unfortunately, we're in a situation where we need to get maximum points at all costs. We've been preparing the boys, they are doing well at training and looking forward to the game."

The former winger who enjoyed a decade of success at Chiefs before retiring and moving into coaching in the development structures admits he's received the backing from Amakhosi.

"I've been taking things one step at a time, I'm one person that believes in working hard and waiting for things to come to me and not chasing things," he said.

"I cannot say it's the opportunity, the team believed that I could take the team forward until the end of the season."

Chiefs will take on Arrows at the FNB Stadium this afternoon with all 16 DStv Premieship sides also in action at 17h00.
