England 1-0 Czech Republic
England topped Group D with a 1-0 victory over Czech Republic at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening.
England manager Gareth Southgate brought Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka and Kyle Walker into his starting line-up, while Czech Republic were unchanged.
Raheem Sterling hit the post in the second minute. Luke Shaw played a good ball down the left to release the Manchester City attacker, who chipped over the onrushing goalkeeper but unluckily his effort rebounded off the far post.
The Three Lions took the lead in the 12th minute when Grealish got to the byline on the left-hand side and his floated cross took a deflection before finding its way to Raheem Sterling at the back post, who had a simple headed finish from close-range.
Shortly before the half-hour mark, Maguire threaded a ball through for Kane down the inside left channel and he cut back onto his right foot but his effort towards the far corner was brilliantly saved by the left hand of Tomas Vaclik when the England captain looked certain to hit the back of the net.
Those were the best chances of the match as the Czechs finish as one of the best third-placed teams to progress to the knockout stages.
Scotland 1-3 Croatia
Croatia finished in second in Group D to advance to the last 16 at the expense of Scotland, who they beat 3-1 at Hampden Park.
Scotland boss Steve Clarke replaced coronavirus-hit Billy Gilmour with Stuart Armstrong in the only change to his side. Meanwhile, Josip Juranovic, Marcel Brozovic, Bruno Petkovic and Nikola Vlasic came into Zlatko Dalic's side.
Croatia broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. Josip Juranovic delivered to the back post and Ivan Perisic headed back across goal for Nikola Vlasic, who took a touch before placing the ball into the bottom left corner.
The Scots equalised in the 42nd minute. Andy Robertson's cross was headed back out to Callum McGregor, who rifled home through a crowd of defenders into the bottom-left corner from 20 yards.
Croatia's inspirational captain Luka Modric restored his side's lead in the 62nd minute. After some build-up down the left from the visitors, Matteo Kovacic laid the ball off to his skipper, who hit it first time with the outside of his right foot and into the top left corner.
Perisic made it 3-1 in the 77th minute when he glanced Modric's corner away from David Marshall and into the bottom-right corner.
The Tartan Army could not force their way back into the game and can bow out of the competition with their heads held high.
