Wales boosted their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2020 round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Turkey in Group A on Wednesday evening.
Robert Page named an unchanged line-up from their tournament opener against Switzerland, but Turkey recalled Kaan Ayhan and Ozan Tufan as two changes from the loss to Italy.
Wales asked the first questions on five minutes with a low snap shot on the near side of the area by Aaron Ramsey following a smart supply, but goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir saved.
Ramsey was guilty of another clear miss midway following the first half as he slammed a through ball from Gareth Bale over the top after he timeously managed to beat the offside trap.
Turkey came even close to a breakthrough before the half-hour mark from the head of Ayhan following a smart delivery from Cengiz Under, but Joe Morrell scooped from the goal-line.
It was the Welsh though that had the opening 42 minutes in as Ramsey made up for his earlier profligacy with a deft close-range finish from a ball over the top from Bale.
The Crescent-Stars emerged for the second half on fire and looked to go level with a first-time strike in the area from Burak Yilmaz, but he went over the top from close metres.
Wales should've made it two goals on 61 minutes from the penalty spot after Zeki Celik brought down Bale, who then fluffed the resultant spot kick shortly after Cakir smothered Ramsey.
Turkey were inches close to an equaliser with three minutes to go, but goalkeeper Danny Ward thwarted Merih Demiral's flying header following a corner-kick.
The Welsh made the points safe deep in added time after Connor Roberts tapped home a low pass from Bale to see his side edged closer to the last 16 and Turkey on the cusp of elimination.
Russia registered a 1-0 win over Finland to claim their first win EURO 2020 on Wednesday afternoon.
Artem Dzyuba, Aleksei Miranchuk, Aleksandr Golovin and goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made up Russia's changes, whilst Finland featured Saturday's match winner against Denmark Joel Pohjanpalo.
The Finnish appeared to have gone ahead through the self-same Pohjanpalo, who headed in a right-sided cross on three minutes but his effort was dismissed after he had strayed in an offside position.
Miranchuk started to shake up Russia's resolve after a ball to Dzyuba 12 minutes later resulted in a strong effort that cannoned against the post.
Miranchuk handed Russia the lead in the first minute of time added on with an inch-perfect dink into the top-left corner following a one-two into the area with Dzyuba.
Russia began the second half on a slow spell and nearly surrendered their advantage when Teemu Pukki burst through the area for a strike, but he couldn't find target.
Pukki still posed danger to Russia as the second stanza began to open up with a snap shot on the near side of the area following a low ball in from out wide.
Russia survived the scare and came alive again towards the last 20 minutes when Daler Kuzyayev forced a one-hand palm from goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky with a curling shot outside the area.
There were chances either side late on, as Paulus Arajuuri headed a looping ball over before Rifat Zhemaletdinov smashed a loose clearance wide as the win helped Russia to second spot in Group B.
