Al Ahly reveal Walter Bwalya was Pitso Mosimane's primary transfer target

The Democratic Republic of Congo striker was signed from El Gouna in a deal worth a staggering R20-million while a further R37-million was invested in his four-year contract which includes performance-related bonuses.

Speaking to OnTime Sports on Monday evening, Tawfik revealed the excitement around the 25-year-old and confirmed Mosimane believes he will take the Red Devils to the next level.

The player himself hailed Mosimane on Al Ahly TV and expressed his wish to continue his meteoric rise within the upper echelons of African football.

"Mosimane is a big coach, I used to follow him when he was at the helm of Sundowns. I never met him before joining the club," the former Nkana star said.

"I want to keep improving and keep working hard. Playing at Al Ahly will help me achieve my goals."

Despite the lavish praise Bwalya will need to wait for his first-team debut after being left out of their CAF Champions League squad along with captain Mohamed El Shenaway to face SONIDEP this evening at Al Salam.

Victory for Ahly will see them advance to the group stage while defeat against the Nigerians will see the Red Devils drop to the Confederation Cup playoffs.
