Al Ahly battle on after Pitso Mosimane

The latest setback for Al Ahly since they amicably parted ways with Mosimane last month came on Saturday when they drew against relegation-threatened Arab Contractors in a match in which Percy Tau didn't play.

Tau has only played twice since Mosimane and the Red Devils went their separate ways and there have been rumours that he now wants out of the club.

Saturday's result leaves Al Ahly in third place and eight points behind leaders Zamalek though they have a game in hand.

The continental heavyweights are on 55 points after 26 games while Zamalek has 63 points from 27 games with Pyramids in second place on 59 points from 27 games.

Clubs in the Egyptian Premier League play 34 games.

As it stands Al Ahly face the risk of losing out on qualification for the CAF Champions League and has also lost in the Egypt Cup final since Mosimane left.

Mosimane has since been replaced by Portuguese gaffer Ricardo Soares.

Al Ahly also failed to win the league last season under Mosimane.

Since Mosimane 's departue in June, Al Ahly has lost three games and drawn another three.

Mosimane lost 10 games in the 97 matches that he oversaw with the club.

The former Bafana Bafana coach spent just under two years at Al Ahly but also didn't win the league, before he amicably parted ways with the club after the Champions League final loss at the end of May.

He had won the Champions League twice, CAF Super Cup twice, Egypt Cup and Egypt Super Cup while adding two bronze medals from the FIFA Club World Cup.
