10 records that could be broken at Euro 2020

With the 2020 UEFA European Championship likely to see a number of new records being made, here are 10 that could be broken at the tournament.

Jude Bellingham made his Euros debut against Croatia on Sunday, making him the youngest player ever to play in a European Championship match.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is still just 17 years old, though, and there many other records he and others could potentially break at this year's tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently tied with Michel Platini for the most goals scored in European Championships. This is the Portuguese captain's fifth Euro tournament and he's never participated in one without scoring a goal, so it seems likely he will breach this milestone.

The Portugal talisman is already Europe's highest-scoring player at international level with 104 goals and needs just five more goals to equal Iran legend Ali Daei's world record for the most strikes in international football.

Euro 2016 broke the record for the most goals scored at a European Championship with 108 strikes due to the expansion of the tournament. It is expected that Euro 2020 will produce even more net-busters!

With the new element of the video assistant referee, it is possible that this will not happen as offside goals that would perhaps have been allowed previously would now be overruled, but it could also award more penalties that referees would otherwise previously have missed – click through the gallery above to see more records that could be broken at Euro 2020!
