Zungu issues latest on player who refuses to leave AmaZulu

AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has given an update on one of the club's first-team players who is reportedly refusing to leave the club.

Usuthu acquired former South Africa Under-17-star Mswati Mavuso on a free transfer earlier in the year in February.

Though the Nelspruit-born player failed to make a single appearance last season during his short-term deal, the KwaZulu-Natal club offered the player a two-year extension.

But after the appointment of head coach Pablo Franco Martin the player has found himself a peripheral at the club.

According to sources close to the situation, the club are hoping the player accepts a six-month pay-off.

"He can talk for himself, I prefer to respect him as a youngster," Zungu tells KickOff.

"But yes, he is still a player at AmaZulu.

"He is not training with the main team since the coach decided he is not in his plans, and we have made alternative arrangements.

"He still keeps fit he still trains, but he is not training with the main team."

Zungu also took the opportunity to issue the latest on Niger international Victorien Adebayor, whose arrival is being delayed by visa issues.

"He is on the way, we will update you once he is here, but he is currently on the way to South Africa.

"The borders in Niger are now open but the flights are still very few.

"It's still not easy to travel from Niger to South Africa, there is no direct flight.

"To come here you need to go via places like Morocco Turkey, and Ethiopia, it depends on what day is it."
