Where are they now - Allan Freese

In our latest feature Where Are They Now, KickOff catches up with former Platinum Stars, Free State Stars and AmaZulu FC head coach Allan Freese, and brother to Kaizer Chiefs legend Howard "The Rock" Freese.

The Estcourt-born CAF A license holder will always be remembered for winning both the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 Cup during the 2013/14 Season.

The 67-year-old coach says he remains satisfied within his role at Highlands Park.

"I'm currently at Highlands Park, I'm a head coach there, we are in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League," Freese tells KickOff.

"I'm happy with the way I do my job. Since leaving the PSL, I've been at Richards Bay FC.

"I've been at Cape Town All Stars, I've been to the play-offs in the NFD, I went to Free State Stars, and I missed the playoffs by one point.

"So, at the moment I live in Joburg, I can't say I have made money in football because the money comes and goes, I have a family with responsibility.

"If I could do it again, my coaching career PSL-wise, I wouldn't change much except to educate myself even further and have a little bit more knowledgeable people.

"The PSL has grown now, there's a lot of good coaches, knowledgeable coaches, coaches who put in a lot of effort into their jobs.

"But my generation of coaches they still do have them in the PSL, you still have Gavin Hunt there, you have Steve Komphela, you have Duncan Lechesa, there is Kaitano Tembo at Richards Bay, so there is no difference.

"Yes, there is technology involved in football these days, but the technology comes with the budget of the club.

"Where I've been, I've been working hard to try to get back to the PSL with Highlands Park or any other team that will employ me."
