Bafana Bafana's Group D rivals confirm AFCON squad

Bafana Bafana's Group D rivals Namibia have named their final AFCON squad, which includes eight South African-based players.

Namibia have finalised their 23-man contingent set to jet out to Egypt for the continental showpiece kicking off next week Friday.

The Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti has included no less than eight players plying their trade in South Africa's Premier Soccer League divisions, five of which in the Absa Premiership.

Bidvest Wits winger and KICK OFF Footballer of the Season Deon Hotto is the standout attacker, while Highlands Park duo Peter Shalulile and Denzil Haoseb also fetaure.

Namibia, like Bafana, are pitted alongside Ivory Coast and Morocco in Group D, and will kick-off their campaign against the latter on June 23.

The COSAFA rivals will then clash on June 28 at the Al-Salaam Stadium in Cairo.

The Warriors on Sunday defeated Ghana 1-0 in a friendly fixture in Dubai, and Mannetti insisted his charges are still far from where they need to be prior to the tournament.

"We're not there yet. We have a lot to work on before we go to AFCON. The next two weeks will be very tough," he reacted on the association's website.

"We have now worked on our defensive behavior. We need to control the games and make sure we in charge of the games we are going to play"
