Carnell scoops more MLS accolades

South African coach Bradley Carnell has earned yet another accolade in Major League Soccer during an impressive debut season with Philadelphia Union.

Carnell's appointment as Philadelphia's head coach has proven to be a masterstroke.

The South African tactician has guided his team to a commanding five-point lead at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference standings.

At the time of writing, Carnell has overseen 29 league matches, securing 17 wins, six draws, and six losses.

Notably, his team has conceded only 26 goals in the MLS this season, the fewest of any club in the Eastern Conference.

This achievement is all the more remarkable considering Carnell was appointed by the club in January 2025, just before the season began.

Furthermore, Carnell has led Philadelphia to a semi-final spot in the US Open Cup.

His work has not gone unnoticed, as he was recently named MLS Coach of the Matchday this past weekend.

According to Philadelphia's official website, this marks the third time this season that the Johannesburg-born coach has received this accolade.

Although Carnell has yet to win silverware as head coach, he has a chance to move closer to that goal when Philadelphia face Nashville in the US Open Cup semi-finals, aiming for a place in the final.
