Neymar 'offers' himself to European giants

Wantaway Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has now reportedly offered himself to one of Europe's biggest clubs.

According to reports, Neymar could finally leave the Parc des Princes after six polarising seasons at the club.

Despite last month insisting he would remain at PSG this season despite his fractured relationship with the club's fans, the Brazilian appears to have made a U-turn on those comments as it emerged this week that he had told the club he wants out.

A recent meeting with new PSG manager Luis Enrique and sporting advisor Luis Campos seems to have been a decisive step regarding his future, with the club chiefs said to have told him to find a new club after deeming surplus to requirements.

As such, the player and the club seem to mutually agree that the best solution is to part ways before the transfer window closes on 1 September, and Neymar has since been linked with a move to Major League Soccer, Chelsea, Saudi Arabia, as well as FC Barcelona.

However, Mundo Deportivo now reports that the 31-year-old has taken things a step further and offered himself directly to Barca.

Blaugrana manager Xavi Hernandez has already indicated that he would like to have the departing Ousmane Dembele replaced heading into the 2023/24 campaign, but the report further claims that he is not fully confident about incorporating Neymar into his project at the Camp Nou, and that it is club president Joan Laporta who wants the Brazilian back in Spain more than anyone else.

It is added that for the South American to return to Barca, he would also need to take a big pay cut, while the LALIGA giants are said to be open to taking him on loan this coming season, although they are also believed to be exploring the possibility of him having his PSG contracted terminated altogether so he could arrive at zero cost.

According to Diario AS, PSG would accept a loan deal, but only with an obligatory €150 million (R3.1 billion) buy clause in it for Neymar, something that is not likely to appeal to Barcelona considering their current financial struggles.

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix is also said to have been presented to the Blaugrana in similar fashion after being frozen out in pre-season by manager Diego Simeone, and it is claimed that Xavi could be willing to accept one of either Neymar or the Portugal international in his squad due to their undeniable qualities.
