'I signed with two PSL clubs at the same time'

This week's edition of Secret Footballer reveals how the transfer window presents a time of uncertainty for players who are out of contract.

The Secret Footballer, who played for Jomo Cosmos, reveals how he ended up signing contracts with two different Premier Soccer League clubs at the same time.

"During this period, players rush to do things," he explains to KickOff.

"What happened was, when the season was about to end, my contract with Team A was about to expire. So, I signed a pre-contract with Team B, knowing that my contract was about to expire.

"Only to find that there was a Team C who showed up with a bigger offer, knowing I was now I was a free agent.

"To avoid ruining my chances of joining the bigger club, I hid the fact that I had signed a pre-contract with Team B. The money was big since it was a big club.

"I signed that pre-contract with Team B even though it had no figures. They just told me to sign here and there, and I did. They told me, 'We will only put in the figures once the chairman is available to sign'. All this happened without my agent.

"But after all that, I still signed with the bigger team thinking the Team B contract was not binding since there were no figures and they had not yet registered me with the PSL.

"Not knowing that Team B went behind my back to register me at the PSL. Their chairman had filled in the contract and put in the figures without my consent.

"This football thing is dirty, my friend.

"I was about to lose everything. I was almost banned by the League because of excitement and lack of knowledge.

"That's what happens when you rush to sign on the dotted line without consulting the people who have the know-how.

"As players sometimes, we even go as far as betraying our agents. Team B and the bigger club had to find a solution to save my football career. I had to apologize to Team B, and fortunately, they understood and allowed me to join the bigger club. I believe they compensated Team B."
