Aziz Ki coming to South Africa

Following his scintillating performance when he was last down here with Young Africans in the CAF Champions League, South African fans will have another opportunity to watch Stephane Aziz Ki in action in the upcoming Mpumalanga Premier's Cup.

Young Africans, from Tanzania, have joined German outfit FC Augsburg as part of the tour in South Africa this month, with the pre-season tournament taking place at the Mbombela Stadium.

According to media in Eswatini, Mbabane Swallows, who are currently reigning league champions in the mountain Kingdom, have also been invited to be part of the inaugural Mpumalanga Premier's Cup, which is set to run from 20 to 27 July.

The Rockets boss,Tim Sukazi, confirmed the participation of both Yanga and Swallows during a press conference hosted by Umkhonto Ka Shaka in Mbabane on Wednesday.

"Mbabane Swallows will join FC Augsburg (Bundesliga Germany) and Yanga FC (Tanzania) at the Mpumalanga Premier's Tournament.

"The tournament was announced by TS Galaxy Director Tim Sukazi," read a report in online Eswatini publication, Eswatini Observer.

Yanga has qualified for the CAF Champions League again after winning the league in Tanzania last season, having fallen to Mamelodi Sundowns at the quarterfinals stage of the 2023/24 edition.

Of particular note was Aziz Ki's disallowed goal in the crucial second leg encounter, with the ball having been deemed to not have crossed the line despite the protestations of many to the contrary, in a match Yanga went on to lose on penalties.

Since then, the attacker has been the subject of interest, with Orlando Pirates in particular reported to have shown an interest, although KickOff reported on Wednesday that he is likely to stay on in Tanzania.

Meanwhile, Galaxy have signed striker Victor Letsoalo to bolster their squad for next season.

Letsoalo is set to replace Lehlogonolo Mojela after the speedy attacker was sold to Stellenbosch FC.
