As the clock counts down to the last two salary payments as a Kaizer Chiefs player on the current contract, a clear picture has been painted for Keagan Dolly.
Dolly's three-year deal at Chiefs is up at the end of June and based on what has happened this season, the lights of hope keep dimming.

Eight appearances totalling 470 minutes this season, no goal in over a year, and a frequency of injury is not what is expected of a top earner at Chiefs at age 31.
Those injuries have meant no contribution in 25 games this term from Dolly, whose numbers were eight goals (plus five assists) and six goals (plus five assists) in his first two seasons.

"Since he joined Chiefs, I don't think his performance justified his earnings at the club," states yesteryear Chiefs star Mohammed Ouseb.
"If he can take a pay cut, then maybe [a] one-year extension will do.
"But then at the end of the day, it doesn't help that he takes a pay cut and he picks up another injury and only plays 10-12 games next season.
"But honestly, I feel for someone to play every week, it is better to get another youngster and continue with the way that everybody feels Chiefs needs to play.
"If he wants the same earnings, then I don't think he deserves another contract at Chiefs.
"To extend his contract is just a risk, at the end of the day.
"I feel like the only way that he deserves a new contract is if he cuts his earnings because he has been injured a lot.
"When he has come back, I don't think he has justified the earnings that he is getting.
"His performance and his wages don't sit together.

"So, if he wants to have his contract extended on the same earnings, then I don't think he deserves it.
"Maybe, if he cuts his wages, then he deserves a one-year contract extension, but what he earns should be less than half of what he is getting now.
"He really needs to go down.
"Otherwise, he can just leave for another offer at another club.
"From the side of Chiefs, I don't think he deserves it and so I feel he is in the same situation as Khama Billiat.
"This is the same situation as Billiat because Dolly is always just forever injured and doing nothing to help the team.

"I would prefer to use the youngsters than Dolly, who is doing nothing to justify his earnings whenever he is back from injury.
"It is better to bring in younger playmakers than to want to have hope in relying on someone whose best we haven't seen since he joined Chiefs.

"In the position that he plays, you must justify your earnings with goals and assists, but he hasn't done enough.
"If he cuts his salary to more than half and extend for a year, then it is a maybe.
"If he doesn't want that, then I don't think he deserves to be anywhere near to Chiefs," says Ouseb.
