Liverpool 'find' surprise Salah replacement

Liverpool have reportedly identified another African star to replace Mohamed Salah, who remains linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Salah was heavily linked with a move to Al-Ittihad before the start of the season, with the Reds reportedly rejecting a big bid from the Saudi side.

Reports suggest the Al-Ittihad have not given up on their pursuit of the Egyptian superstar, who is currently sidelined through injury.

Should Salah make the move next season, the Express have reported that the Reds could try secure the services of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

The report claims Cameroon star could be available at a cut-price if Brentford get relegated, with the team currently sitting five points above the drop zone.

Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore has previously stated that Mbeumo would be a good replacement for Salah.

"I think top sides should be taking a closer look at Bryan Mbeumo – I love him! It may surprise some of you but Mbeumo is my favourite player in the Premier League. I think he's quality," he told Caught Offside.

"Whenever I watch him, he gets the ball close to his feet, he's very direct, he makes excellent runs in the channels, he can drop deep, he holds the ball up really well, he is very supportive of his striking partner, he gets in the box and poaches goals, he's physically strong.

"I could go on and on. He's a great player! If Salah does end up leaving Liverpool this summer then I certainly think Jurgen Klopp should consider Brentford's number 19."
