Orlando Pirates claimed the scalp of another Soweto rival with a 2-0 victory over Moroka Swallows on Tuesday evening at Orlando Stadium.
The host were unchanged from the goalless draw against Richards Bay, while suspension ruled out Swallows' top scorer Tshegofatso Mabasa as Dumisani Zuma, Falakhe Tshanini, Lantshane Phalane and Kagiso Malinga were re-called by Steve Komphela.
Pirates appeared to have gone ahead with a curling finish from the far side by Evidence Makgopa, but the goal was ruled out for offside after he gone too early onto a through pass.
Although, the Dube Birds started to apply a bit of pressure through a close-range free-kick from Gabadinho Mhango but the wall did its job and parried.
Forward Makgopa made amends five minutes to halftime when he leaned away from Vusi Sibiya's challenge to collect Vincent Pule's through pass to fire into the near corner.
Swallows attempted a quick reply off a half-chance by Mhango in the box following a cross, but he failed to stay on his feet and stumbled before taking a shot.
The Buccaneers were keen to extend the lead in the second half off a half-volley at the far post from Miguel Timm, but he missed target.
Coach Jose Riveiro summoned two players off the bench on 60 minutes, where Nkosinathi Sibisi replaced Tapelo Xoki before Patrick Maswanganyi made way for Kabelo Dlamini.
Winger Monnapule Saleng, who stole the show in the last match between these two teams was introduced for Pule ten minutes later, with Lepasa in for Makgopa.
Saleng made an instant impact when he pulled wide to the box before applying a step-over to see Sipho Sibiya direct his low cross in off the post and over the goal-line.
The Dube Birds were unable to stage a response following the final minutes to full-time and succumbed to a successive league defeat, as the Buccaneers returned to winning ways.
