'Real Madrid star must stop playing the monkey'

A Spanish football has come under fire for telling Real Madrid star Vinicius junior to  "stop playing the monkey" after his goal celebrations.

The Brazilian winger bagged his fifth goal of the season in last week's win over Real Mallorca, as Los Blancos maintained their unbeaten record.

Vinicius proceeded to dance after his impressive finish at the Santiago Bernabeu, although that did not sit well with the President of the Spanish Agents association, Pedro Bravo.

"You (Vinicius Jr) have to respect the opponent," Bravo said on El Chringuito TV.

"If you want to dance, go to the sambadrome in Brazil.

"In Spain, you have to respect rivals and stop playing the monkey."

The Brazilian forward has already received some support from fellow players, including former Barcelona star Neymar.

"Dribble, dance and be you! Happy just the way you are. Go for it my boy, next goal we dance!," Neymar said in an Instagram post.

Real have also released a statement condemning any types of racist abuse against Vinicius and players.

Statement:

Real Madrid C. F. condemns all types of racist and xenophobic language and behaviour in football, sport and life in general, such as the regrettable and unfortunate comments made against our player Vinicius Junior in the last few hours.

Real Madrid would like to express its affection and support for Vinicius Junior, a player who regards football as an attitude towards life through joy, respect and sportsmanship. Football is the most global sport there is and should be a model of values and coexistence. The club has directed its legal services to take legal action against anyone who makes racist remarks towards our players.
