Kane keeps England's winning start alive in Nations League

England made it two wins from two matches in the UEFA Nations League after securing a 2-0 win over Finland on Tuesday evening.

Angel Gomes was given his full debut by the Three Lions who also recalled Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Rico Lewis in a total of four changes from Saturday's win over Republic of Ireland.

Both teams had a bulk of the forward play in the earlier exchanges but battled to unlock the defence and get a decent amount of shots in on target.

Captain Harry Kane bagged the net inside the midway point in the form of a towering header into the bottom-corner from Bukayo Saka's cross, but he had gone too early and saw the offside flag raised.

Finland dusted off the nervous spell a little later and had Topi Keskinen charge at a decent speed to get a shot in after meeting a loose pass, but it sailed over the top.

The Three Lions did though enjoy a strong half with Trent Alexander-Arnold in-behind and right in the area to meet a cutback from Lewis, but in the end strayed wide of the mark.

Kane came good just over ten minutes in the second period when he twisted past Robert Ivanov to get goal-side and finished in off the underside of the crossbar.

Newcastle United's exciting midfielder Anthony Gordon looked to double the lead minutes thereafter with a clever effort from inside the area, but Lukas Hradecky produced a save.

It was Gordon's last involvement who were withdrawn for Eberechi Eze before Bukayo Saka vacated for Noni Madueke in a double substitution the Three Lions made.

Madueke proved key around the last ten minutes when he ran in on the right to play a cross in the box for Kane to slam across Hradecky to record his 68th goal for the English.

The English enjoyed a comfortable end to the clash and cruised to victory to continue their perfect start under interim manager Lee Carsley.
