Liverpool ended the UEFA Europa League group stage phase with a 2-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday night.
Jarell Quansah and Wataru Endo were the only Reds players to maintain their spot in the starting line-up from Saturday's win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The Reds line-ups included a number of young players, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley and Luke Chambers getting some regular miutes.
The young Reds looked lively going forward in the early stages but were unable to carve out any serious openings at Mathias Rasmussen's goal.
Union, however, found the breakthrough on 32 minutes when Curtis Jones lost possession to Nillsson to Mohammed Amoura, who raced clear on goal and rounded Caoimhin Kelleher before slotting into an empty net.
The Reds restored the parity seven minutes later when defender Quansah opened his account for the campaign with a powerful strike after Union failed to clear a corner.
Liverpool did go into the break trailing when Cameron Puertas slotted past Kelleher in the box after some good work by Amoura down the left flank.
Puertas thought he had extended the home side's lead after the hour mark with a sweeping finish from the edge of the box, but celebrations were cut short due to a handball in the build up, which was spotted by VAR.
Liverpool continued to push for the equaliser as the half continued but they left themselves open at the back, with Union going close on a couple occasions but for a couple good stops from Kelleher.
Klopp's charges were unable to get themselves back into the contest and had to settle for their second defeat in Group A, where they do finish top.
